What is a blog? Andrea Mills video clip
Friday, March 17, 2006"It's a good invention for allowing people in contributing their know-how in collaborative ways, in an open mode. What can be done with the human brains. Communication can be done. Collaboration of all sorts of kinds. Cross-cultural collaboration.
It can be done for early detection of emerging trends.
It can be a new form or another form, or complementary form of expression for human beings to share interests, knowledge, know-how... All sorts of human-related artifacts.
Well, that could be the future of newspapers, basically.
So, a more bottom-up way to generate news in a collaborative fashion so we finally get the real news, the real things happening in the world and not what they broadcast to us in a sort of aligned fashion, you know.
If you look at most of the news nowadays, they're all the same.
There is a clear standardization of the message. Probably there is one source that produces most of the messages for the most expensive piece of news. So the others just use it.
Blogs could be a low-cost way, a bottom-up way to get better news from citizens, from people in the field.
