What is a blog? Roger Spence video clip
Tuesday, February 21, 2006Roger Spence is a young and talented designer hwo lives in LA, and who has recently taken up the videoblogging challenge.
I have had the pleasure of meeting Roger, and his two fantastic girls, during his recent tour of Europe, in which he made stops in Paris and Rome.
As an experiment during our short walk-together through tiny streets of Borgo Pio in Rome, we took both our camcorders and set ourselves up for a modern day shoot-out without guns. Bullets were our questions to each other. (The shots taken is quite dark as we recorded this way past sunset time, but nonetheless quite viewable)
Here is his own take to my rapid fire on what blogs are (for my side of answers we need to wait for Roger to publish them):
"It’s people just getting their thoughts online, you know, spouting out random stuff. When I first found out about blogs, I was intrigued but I think the curiosity kind of died down after a while.
There’s a few that I check out on a regular basis, but in general I think it’s a good way for people just to get their thoughts and ideas out.
When it started, I think that people, again, it is the typical diary.
As to what the future holds… I guess I haven’t given it that much thought.
It can be used in a variety of ways.
With all these new ways of publishing online, getting yourself online, getting media online, getting your journal or diary online.
I just think there’s a lot of things we haven’t seen yet. There’s a lot of people who are on the forefront… the real forward thinking people.
They’re just gonna come out there and do a lot of great stuff.
Honestly, I can’t really predict what’s gonna happen.
I’m glad I’m a part of it at this stage. And I’m continuing to ride the wave.
And I’m really curious to see where it goes.
I have no idea what tomorrow holds, or what next month or next year holds…
Most definitely. I think you already see it now that a lot of corporate news are using people’s cellphone videos, photos, as credible sources of news.
So, I mean, I see that’s the direction that it’s going in. I feel that the more people get their own camera, and their own ways of making media, laptops…
Majority of people have fast connections.. where the sources and the means to put media up online and just get it out there are so easy.
You are gonna see a lot of people taking the media into their own hands. And doing things for themselves.
And the corporate media coming around and saying this is where you can get instant news, on site facts, broadcast.
You’re gonna see a lot of that. So most definitely.
