What is a blog? In The News: TheWeblogProject video clip

On today's print issue of Corriere della Sera, Italy's oldest national newspaper, TheWeblogProject gets some coverage in an article devoted to films financed by Internet users.

In the article written by Francesco Margiocco, who had called me a few days earlier, is written:

"Robin Good, pseudonym for Luigi Canali De Rossi, is working at a documentary on blogs, Internet diaries. Like the Sherwood hero, Good is a benefactor. "I evangelize the new media culture" he says and explains that his movie will be ready for the end of the year, will be released on the Internet and it will be free for everyone: "I am against peddling for money online."

Original text in Italian:
"Robin Good pseudonimo di Luigi Canali De Rossi, lavora a un documentario sui blog, diari su Internet. Come l'eroe di Sherwood, Good è un benefattore. "Divulgo la cultura dei nuovi media", dice e spiega che il suo film, pronto per la fine dell'anno, uscirà su Internet e sarà gratis per tutti. I costi di realizzazione li pagherà lui di tasca propria: "Sono contrario alle collette online".

N.B.: Unfortunately, as it happens too many times with traditional newspapers, I was attributed something that I actually didn't say.

"I am against peddling online" was some notable translation of something altogether different I told the Italian reporter.

The point is this:
The WeblogProject wants not only to create a new kind of movie that serves some useful purpose in educating about what blogs are, but it wants also to be an example of how the future of independent produced movies may look like.

One key factor changing the independent movie scene is the fact that if you look at how a movie can be produced with new media technologies, and if you have access to and know how to use these tdchnologies, the costs involved become accessible to just about anyone.

In this light, I told the Corriere della Sera reporter, that TheWeblogProject wanted to show something that it has been proved time ad time again. You don't need 50 or 100,000 hundred thousand dollars to create an independent successfull movie. You can, but you don't have to.

So, while I feel no harm has been done, I am glad to have been given the opportunity to touch upon this point which I think is not secondary.

I hope Steve Rubel can now rest comforted that I am not after money. :-)
More news coming up.
