In the article written by Francesco Margiocco, who had called me a few days earlier, is written:

"Robin Good, pseudonym for Luigi Canali De Rossi, is working at a documentary on blogs, Internet diaries. Like the Sherwood hero, Good is a benefactor. "I evangelize the new media culture" he says and explains that his movie will be ready for the end of the year, will be released on the Internet and it will be free for everyone: "I am against peddling for money online."

Internet Television Ideal Platform for Marketing and Distribution?

Friday, May 20, 2005

Jeremy Allaire writes on his blog at Brightcove:

"Beyond looking at Internet TV as an ideal platform for marketing and distribution, it is interesting to think about how the Internet facilitates a distributed and collaborative environment for media production. It won't surprise me to see new "media collectives" modeled after open source projects that form together to put forth a particular view point - be it for entertainment or informational programs. Note the work at TheWeblogProject.

Who will host the "sourceforge" of documentaries? Is this a missing piece to create a platform for citizen's media? How will content creators, directors and producers, with common vision, work together to put forth a story that is important to them? What tools are required to help manage these create endeavors? Is there a varient of BaseCamp designed specifically for collaborative video projects?

Here's an interview just published by the Dutch newsblog popular with the media by Jody Donnelly (23), the opinionated bitch. Jody is a freelance writer and cyberjournalist writing for Struikgewas.be and Gent.blogt.be.

Together with three fellow bloggers you started up TWP, so are you friends, and how serious is TWP?

We are not really close friends but only people who share some common ideas and goals. As a matter of fact, while the original idea came from Marco Montemagno, an Italian journalist and media commentator, we have refined it and transformed it quite a bit since its original inception.

I am very serious about TWP and will be gradually increasing my contribution and personal investment in it. Not that I have not done so until now, but the project will require increasing attention and resources as it moves forward.

New sponsors for TheweblogProject

Tuesday, May 3, 2005

A couple of great new sponsors have recently joined the ranks of TheWeblogProject and will be contributing services, visibility and endorsement to the TheweblogProject initiative. I am proud to briefly introduce them here as you may find some of them useful and complementary to your publishing, communication and blog-related needs.

Prodigem, which provides a non-technical online service to distribute large media files online while using the extremely effective BitTorrent protocol. You don't have to worry anymore about storage space and bandwidth costs: Prodigem does it for you. But even more interesting is the new offering that Gary Lerhaupt (a Stanford graduate student) has made available recently and which allows artists and independent authors to easily host their large media video (or music) files and sell them at any desired price. Prodigem Marketplace, the name of this new offering, picks up a 10-15% commission on every transaction while leaving the independent video maker unencumbered by storage, hosting, bandwidth and distribution issues. Go give it a look.
